Death Counter ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Health Profile Data: Age, gender, height, weight, and lifestyle factors (smoking status, alcohol consumption, exercise level, stress level, diet quality) that you enter during onboarding.
- Habit Tracking Data: Daily check-ins for habits such as exercise, water intake, sleep quality, smoking status, and meditation.
- Bucket List & Goals: Personal goals and life milestones you create within the app.
- Gratitude Journal: Text entries you write in the gratitude journal feature.
- Account Information: If you link an Apple or Google account, we receive your email address and authentication token.
1.2 Health Data (Apple Health / Google Health Connect)
With your explicit permission, the App may access the following health data from Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android):
- Step count
- Heart rate
- Sleep analysis
- Active energy burned
This data is used solely to provide a more accurate life expectancy calculation. We do not sell, share, or use health data for advertising purposes. Health data access requires your explicit opt-in consent and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.
1.3 Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers.
- Usage Data: App interactions, feature usage, screen views (via Firebase Analytics).
- Crash Reports: App crash logs and error reports (via Firebase Crashlytics).
2. How We Use Your Information
- Life Expectancy Calculation: Your health profile and Apple Health/Google Fit data are used to calculate a personalized life expectancy estimate.
- Habit Tracking & Achievements: To track your daily habits, calculate streaks, and unlock achievements.
- Weekly Reports: To generate personalized health trend reports.
- Cloud Sync: To synchronize your data across devices via Supabase (our cloud backend).
- Notifications: To send scheduled reminders (motivational quotes, water, exercise, meditation reminders) that you opt into.
- App Improvement: Anonymized analytics to improve app features and user experience.
- Subscription Management: To manage your premium subscription status via RevenueCat.
3. Data Storage & Security
3.1 Cloud Storage
Your data is stored securely in Supabase (cloud backend) under an anonymous or linked account. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
3.2 Local Storage
A local cache of your data is stored on your device using SharedPreferences for offline access and widget functionality.

4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share anonymized, aggregated statistics (e.g., average life expectancy by age group) for the comparison feature. No individually identifiable information is shared.
5. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & Export: You can view all your data within the app (Settings > Account).
- Delete Your Data: You can delete your account and all associated data through Settings > Danger Zone > Delete Account, or by emailing support@erdemkalayci.com.
- Health Data: Revoke Apple Health or Google Fit access at any time through your device's Health settings.
- Notifications: Disable any or all notifications through the app's Notification Settings or your device settings.
- Advertising: Opt out of personalized ads through your device's privacy settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking).
6. Children's Privacy
Death Counter is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
7. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws including GDPR and CCPA.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data may be retained for up to 24 months.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
